John Y. Lee, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist, has been licensed to practice in the State of California since 2012. Immediately after earning his license, Dr. Lee worked as a clinical supervisor at Tarzana Treatment Center on an inpatient unit. Subsequently, in 2014, Dr. Lee He joined Executive Mental Health. Dr. Lee currently serves as the Director of Clinical Psychology at EMH. He provides a number of essential services at EMH, including, but not limited to, overseeing the clinical care provided by colleagues at EMH, assisting in the process of onboarding newly hired clinicians, and providing direct care to residents of various nursing homes in the San Fernando Valley.
Dr. Lee graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with dual degrees - - a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He then matriculated at Fuller Theological Seminary, initially completing a Master of Divinity and then completing a Master of Psychology and Doctorate of Philosophy of Clinical Psychology at the Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. He completed a pre-internship at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center, in which the focus of training was geropsychology and geriatric medicine.
In addition to providing direct care for patients and supervising colleagues at EMH, Dr. Lee trains for nursing home staff regarding a variety of topics, including management of difficult behaviors, psychoeducation related to dementia and other neurocognitive conditions, and trauma-informed care. When Dr. Lee is not consumed by his work at EMH, Dr. Lee also remains involved in his community, where he mentors young adults and volunteers as a coach for youth sports.
